Wisconsin's War Eagle Lands in Missouri  06/01/2005
On June 4, 2005, the City of Fredericktown plays host to an honor guard from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 101st Airborne Division. Army brass will participate in the dedication of a monument to "Old Abe," mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Volunteers, the original "Screaming Eagle." Abe's first battle was the October 21, 1861 Battle of Fredericktown.

Medal of Honor Recipient Given Due  05/27/2005
On Friday, May 27, 2005, solemn ceremonies at the Mount Hope Cemetery in South St. Louis County were held to mark the placement of a stone at the grave of Private Charles Bieger of the Fourth Missouri Cavalry (union). Pvt. Bieger was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroic actions in the battle of Ivy Farm, Mississippi on February 22, 1864.

Debra Foster Greene Appointed to Committee  04/22/2005
Lincoln University of Jefferson City and Missouri's Civil War Heritage Foundation jointly announced on April 7, 2005 that Lincoln professor of history Debra Foster Greene has been appointed to serve on the History Committee of the Foundation. Dr. Green received her Ph.D. in history from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003.

Danville To Get Interpretative Sign  04/17/2005
Thanks to the Bank of Montgomery County of Wellsville and Montgomery City for sponsoring the first Interpretative Sign produced by Missouri's Civil War Heritage Foundation. The sign will be placed adjacent to the surviving building of the former Danville Female Academy, which is located at Danville, near I-70 exit 170.

First Sign Funded
Missouri's Civil War Heritage Foundation has designed its first Interpretive Panel, which will be placed at Danville, Missouri. The cost of the panel is being underwritten by the Bank of Montgomery County.

History Committee Formed
Missouri's Civil War Heritage Foundation, which brings you mocivilwar.org, has formed a History Committee composed of distinguished historians from across the state. The Committee will be charged with reviewing MCWHF's interpretative material for accuracy.
